"With three books, Aviation Supplies & Academics
consolidates the FARs and the Aeronautical Information Manual
into easy-to-use reference books of information pertinent to pilots,
aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) and flight crew (FC),"
the company says.
Right: GPS Trainer is a tutorial on CD-ROM designed to
help pilots master the use of Global Positioning System (GPS)
receivers. "The most popular GPS receivers are included,
all on a single CD-ROM," ASA says.
Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA) is now shipping the
2002 versions of their books and CD-ROMs on the Federal Aviation
Regulations (FARs), Aeronautical Information Manual, Practical
Test Standards, and FAA Handbooks, the company reports. "With
three books, ASA consolidates the FARs and the Aeronautical
Information Manual into easy-to-use reference books of information
pertinent to pilots, flight crew and aviation maintenance technicians,"
the company says. "All ASA FAR/AIM books show changes
since the last release marked clearly for quick reference, and
are indexed to provide a clear and intuitive listing of subject
matter and paragraph number or regulation."
The FAR/AIM books also contain lists of Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB),
Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) and NOS addresses and
telephone numbers. A suggested study list of regulations and AIM
paragraphs is provided for specific FAA certificates or ratings.
"The FAR/AIM book contains the most pertinent 14
CFR (Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations) Parts combined with
the Aeronautical Information Manual," ASA notes. The
handbook-sized (6- by 9-inch format) FAR/AIM book costs
$15.95, and includes FAR Parts 1, 43, 61, 67, 71, 73, 91, 97,
103, 105, 119, 135, 137, 141 and 142, as well as NTSB Part 830,
a Pilot/Controller Glossary, and the NASA Aviation Safety reporting
form.
ASA's FAR for Flight Crews book is a handbook-sized
6- by 9-inch-format "definitive" reference book for
Airline Transport Pilots, air carriers, dispatchers, flight engineers
and all Part 121 operators, according to ASA. It includes FAR
Parts 1, 25, 63, 65, and 121, and costs $16.95.
The company's FAR for Aviation Maintenance Technicians
book is a large-format 8 1/4- by 10 3/4-inch book for FAA-certificated
aviation technicians and repair centers - "the most comprehensive
regulations book for aviation technicians and repair centers,"
ASA says. It includes FAR Parts 1, 13, 21, 23, 27, 33 through
35, 39, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, 119, 121J&L, 125, 135, 145, 147,
183, and Advisory Circulars 20-62D, 20-109A, 21-12A, 39-7C, 43-9C,
43.9-1E, 65-11B and 8082-11. The FAR for Aviation Maintenance
Technicians book costs $18.95.
If you are perplexed by Global Positioning System (GPS) units
being used for navigation, ASA may be able to help you master
the most popular GPS receivers - all from your computer, according
to the company. "The most popular GPS receivers are included,
all on a single CD-ROM," the company says. "Pilots will
learn to use the receivers from their desktop computer. The GPS
manufacturers' operating manuals and simulators are included on
the CD-ROM, along with FAA documents pertinent to GPS operation.
GPS Trainer picks up where these materials stop, according
to ASA.
"GPS Trainer is a tutorial on CD-ROM to help pilots
master GPS," ASA says. "GPS Trainer makes time
spent in the aircraft more effective by providing the appropriate
tools to learn the GPS receiver from your desktop computer."
The tutorial provides a complete orientation to the GPS receivers,
including what each knob and button does, what information can
be found on each screen, and how the GPS pages work together,
according to ASA.
Price for ASA's GPS Trainer tutorial on CD/ROM is $99.95.
