June 12-14: Golden West Regional Fly-In and Airshow, Yuba County Airport, (KMYV), Marysville, California, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aviation Convention and Airshow. Get a close-up look at hundreds of aircraft including Homebuilt, Light Sport, Warbird, Vintage, Ultralight, Rotorcraft and Balloons. Talk with the owners/pilots, peek inside and maybe even take a ride! Experience forums and workshops by aviation experts. Talk with authors and war heroes, builders and pilots. June 19-21: The 20th Annual Father’s Day Fly-In will be held at Shreveport North (PA62), Footlight Ranch, 380 Kralltown Road, Wellsville, PA 17365. Footlight Ranch, with its 70- by 2,600-foot well- maintained turf strip, welcomes all flying machines able to take advantage of its hospitality. While there, pilots and drivers can enjoy the large swimming pool, horseshoes pits, volley ball courts, scheduled pilot games and competitions, and camping facilities, and attend the all-you-can-eat prime rib dinner on Friday evening and the picnic on Saturday afternoon. Amble along with other Murphy Aircraft Rebel owners to British Columbia then to Arlington, Washington, with possible stops at places like Gore Bay, Manistique, Michigan, Ashland, Wisconsin, Moosejaw, Revelstoke and Chilliwack. The flight crosses from Canada into the U.S. to Arlington, Washington, for the Arlington regional fly-in. From July 13-21, pilots will ramble back to Brampton, Ontario, or Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A raffle will be held with proceeds going to the Marshall County Boys and Girls Club. On-site camping available (call in advance), and restaurants and hotels are within walking distance. An 18-hole golf course is next door to the airport. A 22-mile cross-country flight is planned to Fulton County Airport (KRCR) for breakfast, and a Rotax engine seminar will be held on Saturday. October 1-3: Midwest LSA Expo, Mt. Vernon Outland Airport (MVN), Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Organized to educate aviators about all facets related to the Light-Sport Aircraft industry, this Expo will make use of the airport’s amenities, including its 6,500- by 150-foot main runway, five precision approaches, acres of concrete ramp space, Class “E” airspace, and ARFF Index A safety. Event organizers have placed all aircraft exhibitor spaces on the main ramp with easy ingress and egress for demo flights.
